Second Grade

The Second Graders are working on Unit 2 of the school year right now. They have already learned songs in duple meter (groups of 2) and are now singing, improvising, and reading rhythms in groups of 3, or triple meter.

The notation for triple meter looks like this:

"Du" is always the sound we use for the beat of the song we are working with and now the beat is divided into 3 parts.

This is an example of a song we are using in class.

It is called. "Oh, dear! What can the matter be"

Try to read the rhythm of the song using "Du" and

"Du-Da-Di".

Listen to the recording of Mr. Gus singing the song.

To see if you were correct.
