Fourth Grade

Fourth Grade is the year of recorder! Here is an example of one of the songs we work on during the school year. The students begin by learning the notes B, A, and G on the recorder and are able to play songs using Do, Re, and Mi in G Do. As they continue throughout the school year they start adding in their right hand for the instrument and learning lower notes. "Going Home" is from the series "Easy 8 for recorder" This song uses B, A, G, and E or Do, Re, Mi, and La in G Do. The students practice singing the melody as well as playing it so their ear is learning the music as well as their eyes. Here is the music for "Going Home" as well as the fingerings for each of the notes. I do keep the recorders at school for the year, but on the last day of school the students get to bring them home.
